Alexi Chan is Head of Global Banking Sustainability at HSBC, where he leads the global ESG team in providing financing, advisory, and investment solutions that contribute to the Group's sustainability agenda as a trusted partner to clients in the transition to net zero. He is a member of the Global Banking Executive Committee.

An experienced banking and capital markets professional with more than 25 years of experience, he has worked in London, Hong Kong and Singapore. Mr. Chan has held global roles of increasing responsibility in HSBC, from Global Co-Head of Capital Markets, where he oversaw a team of more than 500 professionals around the world and was responsible for the bank’s debt and equity underwriting businesses and associated risk management. He previously served as Global Co-Head of Debt Capital Markets (DCM) and also led the Asia-Pacific region. Under his leadership, HSBC was ranked the #1 underwriter of G3 bonds in Asia-Pacific for ten consecutive years (2011–2020). The early years of his career were spent with H.M. Treasury, the UK’s economics and finance ministry.

He is a graduate of the University of Oxford and has a Master's degree from The London School of Economics and Political Science.
