Juan Carlos Jobet
Chile’s former Minister of Energy and Mining
Juan Carlos Jobet is Chile’s former Minister of Energy and Mining. From 2020 to 2022, he led the nation's successful energy transition, including a phase-out plan for coal plants, the deployment of solar and wind capacity, and an ambitious green hydrogen strategy. During his tenure, he also developed Chile’s first comprehensive, long-term strategy for sustainable and competitive green mining.
Juan Carlos has various leadership roles in international organizations, serving as chair of the Clean Energy Ministerial and Mission Innovation 2021, and as co-chair of the Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition, among others. During his career, he has held several positions in both the public and private sector.
He holds an MBA and an MPA from Harvard University, and a Bachelor's degree in Business and Economics from the Catholic University of Chile.
