Dr. John C. Wagner is a chief scientist, researcher, and author of over 170 academic publications. As the director of Idaho National Laboratory and president of Battelle Energy Alliance, LLC, he leads a team of over 5,400 scientists and engineers in the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) nuclear energy laboratory focused on homeland security, environmental science, and energy technologies.

Before his tenure at INL since 2016, he worked for nearly two decades at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where he held several research and leadership roles in reactor and fuel cycle technologies.

Dr. Wagner is a Fellow of the American Nuclear Society and recipient of the 2013 E.O. Lawrence Award. He received his B.S. degree in nuclear engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the Pennsylvania State University.
