John Doerr is an engineer, venture capitalist, and author of the #1 best-seller Measure What Matters and the newly released Speed and Scale, an action plan to solve the global climate crisis. He is the chair of venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins, which he joined in 1980 after working at Intel and cofounding two companies.

Doerr famously led Kleiner into Google in 1999, investing $12.5 million. He was also an early investor in Amazon, DoorDash, Slack, and many startups that are now iconic companies. In February 2009, Doerr was appointed a member of the President's Economic Recovery Advisory Board. He currently serves on the boards of Google, Amyris Biotech, Tradesy, ASAPP, and Zynga. John his wife Ann are signatories of the Giving Pledge.

He earned a B.S. and M.E.E. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Rice University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
